SOORNADI LEHYAM

Sooranadi Lehyam is an ayurvedic medicinal preparation in the form of jam. The main ingredient of this lehyam is Soorana (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius). It is used mainly treating Arshas (piles/hemorrhoids). Along with this, it is also used in conditions like decreases digestive power, anorexia, etc… This is also called as Suranadi Lehyam, Suranadi Lehyam, Vanasuranadi Leham, Suranavaleha, Sooranadi Leham etc… Ingredients of Sooranadi Lehyam Prakshepaka Dravya (powders to be added) Surana (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius) – 16 parts Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica) – 8 parts Mahaushada/Shunti (Zingiber officinale) – 2 parts Maricha (Piper nigrum) – 1 part Madhura Dravya (sweetening substance) Guda/Jaggery (Saccharum officinarum) – Q.S Drava Dravya (liquid material) Jala (water) Preparation of Sooranadi Lehyam All the ingredients are taken in specified in quantity. A suitable vessel is taken along with sufficient quantity of water. Then crushed jaggery is added to it and heated. Then the other powdered ingredients are added and boiled. It should be stirred continuously until it becomes a paste form. Then it is taken out from the fire and allowed to cool down. Once it cools down, it can be stored for use. Indication of Sooranadi Lehyam Arshas (piles and hemorrhoids) Agnimandya (decreased digestive power) Aruchi (anorexia) Dosage : In general, 5 to 20 gms once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.
